Content is the king. We all have heard this sentence, as this explains the true importance of content that generates sales.

But the question is, how you can craft amazing content. If you are trying to become a content writer and don’t know how to get started, there is nothing to worry about.

Now let’s break down the processes that can help you get started.

Keep on Writing

Practice makes a man perfect. While writing practice can make you become a better writer. While practicing to become a good writer, you need to do loads of hard work; other than that, there is no secret to becoming a successful writer.

At least you can’t achieve it in one night. It takes time. The first step to accomplish is to keep writing.

Craft a Professional Bio

The next step is to create a professional profile for yourself so that you can get started. Some of the things your profile should have include

  • A high-quality profile photo, clear and bright
  • A personal touch
  • Elevator Pitch yourself
  • Credibility boosters.

Build a Writing Portfolio

The next thing that you’re gonna need is your portfolio of work. During your career, most of your clients will ask for your writing samples before hiring you. So make sure that you have crafted some great samples that are award-winning.

There are a lot of ways that you can use to start creating your portfolio without any writing experience. Let’s discuss them in detail.

1. Medium

Medium is a website that allows you to create a profile and publish articles with your name for free. Anyone can create an account here and start publishing articles that provide value.

The biggest benefit you will get from publishing articles is that Medium is a professional-looking and a widely known writer network.

2. Content Platform

The second best way to create your portfolio on a content platform requires a little more effort.

A content platform is a place that connects writers with companies that require content. So for starters, it is a great choice for building a portfolio and finding potential clients.

3. Publications

Another difficult way is to publish your portfolio on publications (yes, you have to find publications in your nice on your own). For this purpose, you need to write some high-quality articles that must be original.

After that, send them to the editors of those websites. This process takes time and effort, but it helps your portfolio to get some extra value.

Find Your Niche

After you have created your portfolio, the next step for a freelance writer is finding a niche or a topic.

This part can be really challenging because, during the early stages of your writing career, you will be ready to accept any job that will come your way. That is why I recommend my people to cover this phase as soon as possible.

It would be best if you found a niche that,

  • You enjoy writing about
  • Have a more than average understanding of it.

Why do I recommend choosing a particular niche? If you strengthen yourself as an expert in a particular niche/field, then there are chances you will get more potential clients.

Hunt for Writing Jobs

So now, I think you are ready to land your first freelance writing job. But how would you do that?

There are three different mediums from where you can start hunting for your job.
